3/7/2020 Down at Rich Refinishing today working on the old original "Purple People Eater" dragster ....Richard Hilton certainly has the old body looking good.
3/29/2020 The dragster progress continues down at Rich Refinishing this past weekend. With all the body panels and the tires back on to check clearances and fit, it's actually starting to look like a dragster. Every time I'm down at Richard's shop working on the rail I always think of how far this dragster has come starting as a big pile of broken body parts, no motor or tranny, no chassis and to see how it looks today.....I'm getting a little excited to see how the old dragster is going to look with new purple paint and a hemi sometime in the near future. Thanks to those talented friends that have pitched in to helped me make this dream a reality and bring this rare piece of Canadian drag racing history back to life....the story continues.
Quicky photoshop comparison by Chris.
6/27/20 Good way to start my holidays then putting the old hemi and tranny into the dragster this morning down at Rich Refinishing. But how cool to have Drag Racing Hall of Famer Bob " Show Time" Elliott (Bob ran early jet dragsters) show up to give the dragster his thumbs up. Thanks Bob for your very kind gift.... it's much appreciated brother.
7/18/20 Wow.... Richard Hilton put the "big" surprise on me this morning when I walked into the shop..... the "Purple People Eater" streamliner dragster is definitely back from the grave.....lol.... the paint , fit and finish looked outstanding. There's still more to do but I'm definitely excited
